Real Jujitsu Kumite Overview
All questions regarding Real Jujitsu Kumite should be directed to Sensei John Farrar of
Bedroc Judo at (585) 755-5204.
Registration deadline is September 8, 2010.
Competition
Each competition begins in the center of the mat area. The competitors
must show their abilities in each of three areas: striking with the closed
hands or feet (atemi-waza); throws (nage-waza); groundwork (osae-komi-waza).
As soon as one of the competitors makes contact with an atemi, either of them
can move into nage-waza. There must be a strike initiated before moving
into throws. Osae-komi must be proceeded by a throw or takedown.
Once on the floor, competitors can start with groundwork techniques, as atemi is
not allowed.
