Zahand's Martial Arts
Sensei Matt Zahand is a Shotokan practitioner who found his passion in Kyokushin after wanting to get away from point-sparring. Sensei served in the United States Navy and has trained in the martial arts for over 20 years. He has attained a 5th Dan Black belt in Shotokan karate, and a 4th Dan in Seiei-Kan Ju-Jitsu. His greatest passion is helping children. After a major back injury in the military, he returned to his dojo where his students were his “why” to never quit. Sensei Matt also started the Bully Buster Program, where he volunteers in 5 school districts, teaching kids 12 ways to handle bullies without fighting. Along with this, he runs a dojo full-time and invests himself fully into bettering his community through the beauty of the martial arts. A 5-time international Shotokan champion, and numerous national titles, Sensei Matt is a believer that martial arts is like the Navy – A global force for good.
