USA-IFK Competitors Represent at the 6th All-American Full-Contact Championships
USA-IFK competitors traveled to Las Vegas on August 29 to take part in the 6th All-American Full-Contact Championships, hosted by Kyokushin Las Vegas at the Plaza Hotel & Casino.
Representing USA-IFK were students from Kaizen Kan Kyokushin in Tucson, Arizona, under Shihan Bill Schrader, and McCreery Karate-Do Kyokushinkai under Shihan Steve McCreery.
Competitors took part in a variety of full-contact and semi-contact divisions throughout the event.
Among those earning placements were:
- Trey Fiorio — 1st Place, Adult Beginner division
- Karina Moreno — 1st Place, Girls 16-year-old division
- Logan Koster — 2nd Place, 17-year-old division
- Daniel In — 3rd Place, 35+ Open Men’s Full Contact
- Luis Pena — 4th Place, Adult Beginner division
Also representing USA-IFK in competition were:
- Tommy Lintz — Men’s Lightweight Semi-Contact
- Kim Sante — Women’s Open Semi-Contact
- Taylor Weigand — Men’s Heavyweight Semi-Contact
The tournament gave USA-IFK competitors an opportunity to test themselves against fighters from outside their own organization and gain valuable experience in a larger competitive setting.
Shihan McCreery noted that interest among his students in returning for next year’s event is already growing.
Sensei Bill Stewart of Texas Kyokushin Karate also attended the event on behalf of USA-IFK and assisted with judging. USA-IFK congratulates all of the competitors and instructors who represented their dojos and the organization in Las Vegas.
