Osu! Registration is now open for the 32nd American International Karate Championships (AIKC), one of the longest-running Kyokushin tournaments in North America. Hosted by USA-IFK President and Country Representative Shihan Mike Monaco (8th Dan), this year’s event will take place on November 9, 2024, in Holley, New York. Known for its intense Knockdown fighting and strong international participation, the AIKC is a must-attend full-contact karate tournament for Kyokushin practitioners across the United States and abroad.
Since its inception in 1991, this tournament has grown to become one of the premier events in the martial arts community. Under the leadership of Shihan Mike Monaco (8th Dan), the USA-IFK Country Representative and President, the AIKC has maintained a long-standing tradition of excellence. Shihan Monaco's passion for promoting traditional Kyokushin karate has shaped this tournament into a must-attend event for competitors and spectators alike.
The AIKC is one of the longest-running karate tournaments in North America and has brought together top-tier martial artists from around the world. Each year, martial artists from the international martial arts community and across the United States make their way to New York to test their skills in the intense, full-contact Knockdown divisions that Kyokushin karate is renowned for. This year will be no different, as competitors will step onto the mat to showcase their discipline, technique, and indomitable spirit.
This year’s championship will feature four major categories:
- Knockdown: The iconic full-contact division, where fighters battle using traditional Kyokushin techniques with no protective gear, relying solely on their strength, stamina, and strategy.
- Semi-Contact (with protective gear): For those looking to test their skills the semi-contact division provides an exciting challenge fighting under knockdown rules, but while wearing protective equipment.
- Open-Hand Kata: A test of precision, form, and concentration, competitors will demonstrate the strength and depth of traditional martial arts techniques.
- Weapons Kata: For those dedicated to mastering weapon-based kata, this category presents the opportunity to showcase skill and expertise in traditional martial arts weaponry.
Whether you're a seasoned karateka or a beginner competing for the first time, the AIKC offers something for everyone. Competitors will have the opportunity to test their skills, connect with the martial arts community, to learn, and to be inspired!
Spaces are limited! This year the tournament will be capped at the first 300 registrants. Act quickly to secure your spot. If you’re looking to take advantage of lower rates, the Early Bird registration deadline is October 25th, 2024.
